Hope you don't mind if I include two characters in a single thread. It's just that these two are always together, so if I'm bringing one into a thread the other is pretty certain to be there...
-----
Name: Nike (often referred to as "hero")
Age: 13
Gender: Male
Race: Human
Appearance: Nike is a young teenage boy with medium-length blonde hair. He often wears regular, comfortable looking clothing along with a bandana on his head.
Anime: Mahoujin Guru Guru
Canon? Yes
History: Nike never wanted to be a hero. He wanted to spend his life lazily passing time away... However, his father was hard-set on training his son in hopes that one day a great evil would arise and Nike would be there to defeat it. One day, this great evil arose, as Lord Giri's 300-year seal finally wore off. The king of Kodai, King Uruga XIII sent a call for heroes to come forth.
Naturally Nike's parents forced him to go to the castle, where he and Kukuri were among many of would-be heroes wishing for the glory of saving the world from Lord Giri. Each would-be hero was to be tested to see who was worthy of the quest to defeat Lord Giri. Each was to reach into a magical box, and pull forth whatever was within. He who pulled forth a mighty blade would be sent to slay the evil Lord Giri. He was Nike.
Personality: Nike has a very lazy, and even at times cowardly, personality. He doesn't like to do more than he has to, and avoids the idea of having to risk his neck when he could just walk on. Still, in the end he always ends up doing what he needs to in order to help people, though usually it's because he selfishly thinks that he'll get something in return.
Weapons:Nike carries with him a basic sword, but can also summon the Magic Blade Kirakira, which is formed from the escence of whaterver he gathers energy from.
Abilities: Aside from the Magic Blade Kirakira, Nike has also learned a technique known as "Badass Pose". This consists of Nike jumping into the air, posing badassly and yelling "Badass Pose". Nike will be surrounded by a badass aura, and will hover in the air for a moment before landing back on the ground. Anyone subjected to the badass pose will stare motionlessly at it for a moment, forgetting about everything else until Nike falls back to the ground.
Family and Friends: Nike has no siblings, and his parents still live in his hometown of Jimuna Mura. Throughout his travels, though, he has made a variety of friends and allies (who I might occasionally use as NPCs).
Roleplay Sample: (In the event of fighting an minor enemy)
As one of the skeleton knights had slashed down towards Nike, our hero raised his sword to protect himself. The two blades pushed eachother, each trying to overcome the other. But then, in a bold move, Nike's sword slipped from his hand and he fell to the ground, his sword now barely out of reach.
He was pinned down. The skeleton was now straddling over Nike, sword raised and ready to stab downward. Only one thing Hero could do... "Magic Sword, Kira Kira!" And from the stone tile of the floor Nike brought forth... A stone tile with a sword handle. Which was very heavy, so as it finished forming in his hand it was only natural that it would fall right onto him. The bonesman's sword thrust right into this painful shield, bending comically into a useless shape as the Kira Kira faded away.
Anything else? Nike isn't necessarily skilled, but is extremely lucky (and humorously so). Expect most of his victories to actually be thanks to his own clumsiness.
----------
Name: Kukuri
Age: 13
Gender: Female
Race: Migu Migu (the very last one)
Appearance: Kukuri is a young teenage girl with brown hair put into two braids. She often wears a loose-fitting black robe.
Anime: Mahoujin Guru Guru
Canon? Yes
History: When Kukuri was still an infant, her father had left her in the care of an old witch shortly before passing away. At her father's wishes, Kukuri was raised in the art of Guru Guru, a form of magic specific to the Migu Migu people. The magic of Guru Guru was once used to seal a great and powerful evil. One day, this great evil arose, as Lord Giri's 300-year seal finally wore off. The king of Kodai, King Uruga XIII sent a call for heroes to come forth.
Because of the reappearance of Giri, the old witch had decided it'd be best to find a suitable warrior to protect Kukuri on her upcoming quest to defeat the evil king. Knowing that one of the children of the village was being raised to be a hero, the old witch brought this young lad to her home to meet Kukuri, and tell them both of the evil that has awakened.
Not long afterwards, Kukuri was sent along with Nike to Kodai Castle, and now accompanies him throughout his journey to defeat the evil Lord Giri.
Personality: Kukuri pretty much has the typical girl personality, fantasizing about romance (though she's not always sure just how much she loves Nike) and always wanting to do the right thing. She's easily embarassed, and also somewhat on the clumsy side. However, when things go wrong and there's nothing she can do about it, she sometimes becomes depressed and/or violent.
Weapons: Kukuri's main weapon is a magical staff, which she uses to cast Guru Guru spells. However, she has also on occasion pulled a giant mallet out of nowhere.
Abilities: The art of Guru Guru is done by drawing magical circle-based symbols on the ground. The spell cast is dependant on the symbol drawn. However, if one is to mess up with even a minor deviation, the result of the spell cannot be predicted.
Family and Friends: Kukuri has no biological family left. She was raised in isolation by a witch in the town of Jimuna Mura. Throughout her travels, though, she has made a variety of friends and allies (who I might occasionally use as NPCs).
Roleplay Sample: Oh no! Hero-sama was in trouble! Pinned down by an evil skeleton knight. This called for some action. "Don't worry, Hero-sama! I'll save you," Kukuri yelled as she began to draw a circle in the ground. "Lizards Tail", she shouted as she activated the spell, only to see that instead of Lizards Tail she cast what appeared to be a poorly-drawn replica of the skeleton, which was really just a stick figure. Feeling dominant, this stick figure decided to charge full force at the other skeleton, carelessly swinging it's blade around in hopes of hitting something.
Anything else? Like Nike, Kukuri will sometimes get lucky with clumsiness, usually in the form of a messed-up circle doing something convenient.

Gipple
Gipple is a spirit that follows Nike and Kukuri around, often in concealment. He occasionally offers them advice, but is otherwise useless and sometimes disturbing. He isn't detailed enough for a full profile.
